Innova Halo Star Fox
With its gravity defying glide, the Innova Halo Star Fox mid range disc helps you get in-range for more birdies.
How it feels: Large diameter. Thin rim. Low profile. Microbead along the rim bottom. Easy to hold and release. Feels like a cross between a Stingray and Rollo.
Halo Star Fox Flight numbers: 5 / 6 / -2 / 1
How the Fox flies: The Fox is an understable mid range that can be a real difference maker when it comes to grabbing those crucial extra feet during an approach shot to the green. With a flat release, the Fox smoothly flies out of your hand and then starts its gentle turn that seems to last forever (Thank you 6 Glide rating!). Then, at the very last moment, right when you think it’s going to turn into the ground, the mild fade deploys to straighten the disc out – landing you further than you thought. Hyzer releases are gradual and Anhyzers, even longer ones are automatic.
Forehand? Power forehand players may not have a place for this finesse disc. But, if you have a softer touch paired with a hyzer release, the Fox can be a real tool.
Halo Star plastic: The unique two-tone injection process results in beautiful, high performing discs with a “Halo” rim that is a distinctly different color than the flight plate. As far as grip and durability, Halo Star exceeds that of Star plastic. It is also among Innova’s most overstable plastics.
The Halo Star Fox is great for:
- Tweener shots: Between a mid range and a fairway driver
- Standstill approaches
- Par 4’s that are just out of reach on the approach, especially a wooded hole.
- Very tight fairways
How will I throw it?: Beginner to intermediate players will see straight, glidey flights from the get-go. Advanced players will find the Fox to be more of a slot/specific situation type disc.
